Recycled Gift Boxes

Although your gift may be small and inexpensive, the gift box you choose can greatly enhance your presentation. Gift boxes come in all sizes, shapes, and colors. If you use your imagination, you can make your own. Look for boxes around your house like shoeboxes, and turn them into beautiful gift boxes. Here's how you can do that.

If you have a box with a lid, find pictures in magazines to decoupage the box. You may also use vintage wallpaper or wrapping paper. Cut out the decals that you will use to cover the box completely.

Apply decoupage glue, which you can find at any craft store, to a small section at a time. Arrange the decals on the section of the box that you applied glue to. Once you have covered the section with decals, apply a coat of glue to another small section. Repeat the same process until you cover the whole box, as well as the lid. Apply a coat of glue over entire box for durability.

You may paint the inside of the box with craft paint or simply line it with tissue paper. Place your gift inside it. If you wish, tie a ribbon around it, and make a bow. Coordinate the ribbon with the colors on the box.

The recipient can use this gift box to store treasured items. It will also look beautiful on a dresser or table. If placed on a shelf in the closet, it will make the closet look tidy and attractive. Look around your house and find boxes that you can transform into beautiful gift boxes.

If you use your imagination, you can create a gift box from boxes that would otherwise end up in the trash. By recycling boxes, you save trees, cut down on the amount of trash, and you make the recipient very happy.
